We never find the best spots by reading a tourists guide. It only happens when we follow our intuition and let our desires speak.
On our way back from Tofino towards Nanaimo, we decided to take a logging road along Taylor River, leading to Sproat Lake. After having driven for 12 kilometers on a road full of potholes, we had the surprise to find a perfect little campsite located on the shore of the lake.
We were welcomed by a nice Canadian family, among which was Colten, a eighteen-years old fishing enthusiast. They were the only ones at the campsite, fishing trout for a week during Thanksgiving, a nice family tradition. They have come fishing there from generation to generation and Colten caught his first fish at an age he could hardly walk.
We were expecting a big storm the next day, but instead we got a nice weather with a perfect light ! We stayed there two days fishing with Colten. He took us on his boat and we spent a great time talking about fishing, nature, and life-choices.
