Upon arrival, we found ourselves thinking that the name “Badlands” sounded as unwelcoming as Death Valley. In addition to this, we imagined ourselves in an old western movie, where cow-boys and Indians crossed the land fighting each other, trying to defend their way of life.
Our expectations were in accordance to the reality of the Park, except for the cow-boys and Indians of course, but they were easy to imagine.
Unfortunately, the weather turned bad the moment we entered the park. Rain and gray clouds had been waiting around the corner for us, and would not leave for a week or so. We thus stayed only two days, surrounded by bison, prairie dogs and a porcupine in his tree.
